Jeancarlos’ New Home

August 14, 2023 Gail Nystrom

Jeancarlos receiving keys and legal papers for the house we donated to his mother. She is then giving her house to her son and his wife Brenda. They have a baby son and Brenda will now be able to take custody of her two sisters since the house is bigger. A win win win

A few weeks ago, we were honored to welcome Vincent Laurent, Governor of the Swiss Embassy in Costa Rica.Throughout his term, Vincent supported three important projects that have made a lasting impact on the communities we serve: the renovation of the hanging bridge in Cabécar territory over the Río Chirripó, the construction of a health clinic in Upper Chirripó serving Cabécar communities around Näri, and most recently, the renovation of our community centers in La Carpio.Last night, we had the privilege of attending his farewell celebration as he begins a new chapter in life. We are deeply grateful for his trust, his partnership, and his belief in the work we do.Gracias, Vincent, por creer en nosotros y confiar plenamente en el trabajo que realizamos.Thank you for sharing our dream and helping make it a reality! We wish you every success in the journey ahead!#CostaRica #nonprofit #communitydevelopment #IndigenousCommunities #partnership #gratitude #SwissEmbassyEmbajada de Suiza en San José ... Last week, we hosted a Health Fair for our beneficiaries, providing vision screenings, dental care, and general medical services to individuals and families in our community. We are deeply grateful to the dedicated medical professionals and students who volunteered their time, skills, and compassion to make this event possible. Your support has a meaningful impact on the lives of those we serve. In addition to providing healthcare services, the students conducted interviews and home visits, gaining valuable insight into the living conditions, healthcare access, and social realities faced by many communities in Costa Rica.Thank you for your commitment to learning, serving, and making a difference!#CommunityHealth #volunteer #GlobalHealth #servicelearning #MakingADifference ... This week we helped remodel the police women of San Jose’s sleeping quarters, including finishing the plastering, power outlets, and probably most importantly, a door. The police who patrol la Carpio and keep a safe and peaceful environment are vital for a healthy and peaceful community. It’s our honor to be able to contribute our part to their efforts. #ngo #police #nonprofit #costarica #genderequity ... See MoreSee Less
